Ellie Garraway

My love of books led me first to a career in publishing, and then the discovery of making books as artistic expression. I aim to evoke an atmosphere, mark time and place, or respond to themes and events in my artist's books. I enjoy exploring unusual structures and experimenting with a wide range of techniques, media and materials. Elements of printmaking, photography, paper cutting, collage, found, recycled and natural materials can all feature in my work.

I love the whole book art making process and create themed sketchbooks recording the creative journey towards finished pieces. See 'Enter Three Witches' which was created in response to the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare's birth in 2016, exhibited at the Shakespeare Now exhibition at Liverpool's Central Library, and going on to Sarno, Italy in 2017.
