Pamela Downes

I am mainly self-taught having taken up book arts when approaching retirement, starting with altered books and using old sheet music and book pages within my work. A particular love of mine when altering books is old pocket dictionaries, no rare or priceless manuscripts are harmed in the process.

More recently I have become interested in eco-printing and dyeing and experimenting with different book structures to display the resulting images. Becoming a member of Marches Book Arts Group has encouraged me to be much more adventurous in my work. The sharing of ideas and skills and the support and encouragement of other members have all been invaluable in helping me to develop as a book artist.
