Pamela Downes

I discovered book arts when I retired from work and finally had the time to indulge my creative impulses. Combining this with my love of walking and being outdoors, over time I have developed a passion for using natural materials collected on my walks whenever possible.

 

My work now features papers and plant inks made by me as well as eco-prints and - most recently - leaves stitched together with my hand-dyed threads. The process is slow, contemplative and deeply satisfying. Whole stories are contained within my books, as each page evokes memories of where and how each element was sourced and produced.
